A plain language version of how this site handles your information. Effective February 4, 2023, updated October 2026 for the new site.
This policy covers brendensanborn.com, run by Swanky Bandit LLC. It applies whenever you visit the site, sign up for the Journal, or send me a message through it.
Things you give me directly, like your first name and email when you join the Journal, or your name, email and message when you use the contact form. The site also collects some technical details automatically, such as your device type, browser, operating system, IP address and a general idea of your location and how you move around the site. I use that mostly for simple visit statistics.
My forms are protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that a real person is filling them in. To do that, Cloudflare may look at your IP address and some details about your browser. When you send a form, I also keep the IP address and approximate location it came from, along with your device type. I use that only to stop spam, abuse and harassment, and I may share it with the police if a message is threatening.
Some services, like social media platforms, may use their own cookies and tracking. I do not control those, so questions about a specific ad or tracker are best sent to the company behind it.
To run the site, send you the Journal and studio news you asked for, answer your messages, keep the site safe, and understand what people enjoy here so I can make it better.
My newsletter is sent through Shopify Email. Every email includes a way to unsubscribe, and I follow the CAN SPAM Act. I never sell, rent or lease my list. If you email me, I may keep that email along with your address so I can reply.
I use reputable services and standard security to protect your information. Even so, please do not send private details like card numbers through the site or by email. I will never ask for them that way.
This site is not meant for children under 13, and I do not knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has shared information here, contact me and I will delete it.
You have the right to see the information I hold about you, correct it, delete it, limit or object to how it is used, and get a copy of it. You can withdraw your consent at any time, and you can complain to your local data protection authority.
Any changes will be posted on this page. If something important changes, I will let you know by email or with a notice on the site.
